The Tableland
Bushwalking Club på internett. Så eg tenkte at vi skulle delta på ein av gåturane deira medan vi var her. Og det gjorde vi i dag. Den var
for erfarne medlemmer, men vi fekk delta. "This is a long and gruelling walk.
Grade is hard/very hard," stod det i
programmet - 9 timers tur.
så avsides at kun få folk kjem inn hit. Derfor er det heller ikkje nokon
McDonalds her.
I'm a member of the
Norwegian Mountain Touring Assosiation(DNT), and I found
The Tableland
Bushwalking Club on the internet. So I thought we should join them for
one of their walks. And that's what we did the day. The walk was for
experienced members only, but they let us join in. "This is a long and gruelling walk.
Grade is hard/very hard," their programme said, - a 9 hours walk.
Åsmund wondered what he had got into, cause we had to get up at 5.30 am to get an early start. We walked downhill for almost three hours before we had our first smokoe at a swim hole along Russell River. Then we continued towards the aim for the hike - the ABC falls. We went to the B fall. The last hill was so steep downhill that there was a rope to hold on to along the track. (And we went up the same track afterwards - a real heart starter) This was worth the gruelling part. Untouched nature in the middle of the
rainforrest. It's so remote that only a few people come here.
That's why it's still a nonMcDonalds place.
Fantastic hanging waterfall with horseshoe shaped wall and a great pool. Amazing spot. Åsmund's standing behind the fall. The Millaa Millaa fall is often used in tourist brouchures, but it's "nothing" compared to this one. The picture to the left is taken from top of the waterfall. We had our smokoe at the rocks down-left on the picture.
The shower was v e r y nice today ..... We recon this was a much better hike than going alone to Mt.Bartle Frere. So we'll skip that one now.
